Zodiac Decans
Each zodiac sign is divided into three 10-degree sections called decans. Each decan has a sub-ruler that adds unique qualities to your Sun sign placement.
Decans are one of the best ways to explain why people with the same sign can still feel noticeably different. Lunary uses decans as a refinement layer after the core chart structure is clear: planet, sign, house, ruler, and aspect first, decan second.
They matter most when you are reading the Sun, Moon, Rising sign, or chart ruler. Once the basics are in place, the decan shows which planetary subcurrent is colouring that placement.
How to use decans properly
- Start with the placement itself: planet, sign, and house.
- Check the sign ruler and its strongest aspects.
- Use the decan to refine tone, emphasis, and timing.
- Do not use decans to replace the main chart structure.
