Black cord or string12 inches

Representing the energetic connection to cut

Substitutes: Black ribbon, Black yarn

Scissors or athame1

Cutting the cord

1Place candles about 6 inches apart
2Tie one end of cord around each candle
3Light both candles
4Focus on the connection you wish to release
5Say: "I release all cords that bind me to [name/situation]. I reclaim my energy and set us both free."
6Cut the cord in the center with scissors
7Let candles burn down completely
8Bury or dispose of cord remnants away from your home
